What is the difference between Counselling and Life Coaching?

Counselling:
Clients enter counselling for any number of reasons. Sometimes they will be aware of what they want to discuss and change sometimes they will be confused. Counselling can be seen as a series of stages.
The first stage of counselling involves the client talking through their concerns and exploring the issues that have bought them to counselling.
The middle stage of counselling involves the client finding a new and more helpful perspective on their concerns.
The final stage results in the client deciding what changes they want to make and taking appropriate action.

Life Coaching:
Life Coaching looks at the holistic concept of the clients life as a whole. A coach helps their client gain clarity on their own personal mission, values and purpose.
It is conditioned to working with individuals who want to move their life up a level. Life Coaching identifies goals clients want to achieve and looks at obstacles that need to be removed in order to achieve those goals. Their coach helps them to identify why they have maybe failed at achieving those goals in the past and supporting them in achieving their desired state.
Coaching is results based and usually short term work.
